Have you made a move to alternative media sources?
Q. I for one cannot stand CNN, MS-NBC, or Fox News anymore. I don't like the idea of a TelePrompTer style message board. I would much rather hear a radio personality any more that at least gives some opinions. Your take on this?

A. I for one think NPR does a great job at giving balanced coverage of the news. My sister's a republican and I'm a democrat and we both agree that NPR has very little to no spin and excellent journalism. I think they help you find your local NPR station on their website.

An alternative to Windows Media Player 12?
Q. Windows Media Player 12 just plain sucks. I don't know what they were thinking when they took away the advanced tag editor. Note: I wish I could downgrade, but I've got a 64bit system and all of the downgrade work arounds are for 32bit.

Is winamp the best alternative to windows media player?
Q. Or are there other alternatives. I dont mind paying if its good. I use it for music mainly. The more features the better!!
Asked by k00079057 - Thu Mar 26 16:15:53 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I guess the definition of good depends on the user. I've used Winamp for years and it does everything I need as far as creating playlists and even playing vids. Plus there's hundreds of skins to choose from. Another app I use to organize my music is MediaMonkey. The only thing it doesn't do is play video files. It's even got a song search function. Type in a word from a song title and every song containing that word is listed. Check out the site for all the info.

Better source of information, Mainstream Media or Alternative Media?
Q. Where do you get informed?
Asked by JD - Tue Aug 18 20:24:04 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. CSPAN where you can watch the senate hearings, votes, etc. Go to the .gov site and read the bills yourself. Just those two are very revealing and can change your entire attitude about the media and politics in general. You might understand the anger some people feel in this country. You can look up the past votes on bills. This is where you will find what a joke it is that the democrats blame Bush for everything Obama inherited. They voted for all the bills and appropriations as well as the republicans. They are playing people for fools. Both parties are to blame equally. Until they admit that, I will never trust them.

Our Media is TERRIBLE Why can't we find ALTERNATIVE INDEPENDENT MEDIA?
Q. America we think we are the best in the World. We're caged community, we always depend on the so-called World News Networking, CNN, etc. These are not reliable and do not bring us the real picture of the world so we can relate to them. These media works for only certain people that used for their propaganda. So lets find alternative media, such the BBC. So we can find ways we can relate to the rest of the world. Remember, America isolated itself from the rest, not because of collective way but certain people did benefit that isolation. Sam

A. That's all changed with the Internet. Producing a TV News show is expensive; only a large network, or someone who has support from a large network, is able to run a TV News show. You need reporters, cameramen, sound engineers, tape engineers, producers, and a large array of people, then you need the equipment that they use. This gets expensive, especially when you count the broadcasting station. News shows are cheaper, but you still need a broadcasting station, broadcasters, reporters and remote equipment and a lot of money to run it all. Both TV and Radio stations need a FCC license to broadcast. They have to conform to the FCC standards and practices. Howard Stern had a lot of trouble with the FCC so he moved to a satellite news… [cont.]

Who do you believe? Alternative or Mainstream media?
Q. We know that the major news papers, local and even cable TV is greatly influenced by the ruling political party, Their failure is to black out news about the Pakatan Rakyat But the alternative media is just 100% leftist, meaning they support Pakatan full scale. Every blog and independent online news provider you come across criticises the BN Govt and its members. The blogs in favour of BN have much fewer hits and the articles are hardly even forwarded. Question is, who does one believe anyway? no bashing please
Asked by Colin - Sat Mar 14 12:54:34 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The alternative media is the opposition's tool to reach out to people. Most of the bloggers and newssites support Pakatan. But the reason for the one sided approach is because the mainstream media is completely pro goverernment. It somehow balances out. Believe both. With a pinch of salt

is there an alternative for windows media player?
Q. my WMP11 has a memory leak and it crashes frequently but i like the library and the playlists and stuff then i got itunes player but most of my songs are in wma format and the player converts all those songs to itunes formate. and this takes extra hard disk space. can someone tell me of a player which is as good as WMP11 meaning a player which plays multiple formats audio and video and has a library.
Asked by Lioric - Sun Nov 2 13:48:43 2008 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. wma is a native WMP format, so if you have most songs in wma you are stuck with WMP. It's best to have songs in mp3 format. I personally use iTunes for audo & VLC for video. You can try Winamp, but I think it needs a plug-in to play wma.
