If I have AOL Explorer can I delete Internet Explorer?
Q. I just downloaded AOL so I could IM a friend, but I seemed to have gotten a whole browser. And it looks better than Internet Explorer. So can I get rid of Internet Explorer and just use AOL? Anybody got any feedback as to whether or not that's a good or bad idea? Thanks!

A. Just to plainly answer your questiong YES. 1. go to add/remove programs 2. delete internet explorer to go further in depth.. do not delete internet explorer it is a successful web browser that can be there in a time of crunch if you need it...do not use AOL explorer because this will use way too many of your computers resources.. Like the other girl said use firefox it is the most efficient and highly customizable way to surf the web and more

How do I get my computer to stop using AOL Explorer and just use the regular internet explorer for everything?
Q. I can't stand the AOL thing ... My computer had AOL software in it when I bought it, probably as part of some conspiracy to get me to sign up for AOL. I want it to just go away.
Asked by Jeremy - Sat Aug 4 03:52:07 2007 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Open Internet Explorer if you can find the shortcut. If you cannot, then go to My Computer and click in the address bar and type in any URL and hit enter. This should activate IE. Once you have it open, click TOOLS at top, then internet options, then programs tab. Here you can change your default browser to IE instead of AOL. To delete AOL software from your machine you would have to go into your programs to delete.

How can i Make limewire Recognize AOL as my internet instead of internet Explorer which is not connected?
Q. Limewire wont connect like you need Six bars and im only getting one. I realize that cause my internet is not "connected" but i dont use Internet Explorer, i use AOL but i wont recognize it. How do i get it to do this? HELPP!

A. AOL uses Internet Explorer as its base browser code. So, it's like AOL is just a fancy (expensive) interface on top of AOL. Try this... Anytime AOL is running, minimize the whole thing and click on Internet Explorer. You'll find it comes right up. :) So, Limewire's diagnosis is indeed correct and there's nothing for you to worry about at all. AOL also throttles back your connection speed during prime time due to heavy use. You could also bring up Firefox (if you have it) and use that same connection and be able to go significantly faster than AOL - which is probably built more to make things simpla and easy. As opposed to Firefox being full-featured and built for quality/speed. If you like really fast services, I would suggest… [cont.]

how do i remove a file such aol explorer from my desktop and my computer?

A. It is not a file. It is a program. Find Control Panel, go to Add/Remove Programs, find it listed there and click on Remove. I might mention also that you should try to learn some computer terms. Delete is not the same as Uninstall. A file is not a whole program. And so on. Learning terms and some basic things about the stuff on your computer will in the end save you grief, often big time. The biggest mistake made is the confusion between delete and uninstall. If you "delete" a program, you are only throwing out parts of it and this could screw up your computer. Uninstall removes the whole program from your computer as if it had never been there. It's like this: you want to get rid of the kitchen sink. If you just take a crowbar… [cont.]

Why is the same website showing me one graphic in aol browser and a different graphic in explorer?
Q. I recently changed a graphic on my website. When I view the page in explorer I get the new graphic. When I view it in AOL I get the old. I've cleaned my cookies and restarted. Thanks!
Asked by Raymond S - Sat Nov 24 07:12:52 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Instead of cleaning your cookies, you need to clear your cache, then try again. Also, if you didn't remove the old graphic first, just pasted the new over it in a wysiwig webpage builder, different browsers may show one or the other, especially if you didn't lock the new graphic or make it 1D. Check the html on the page you uploaded, and make sure all references to the old graphic are gone.

A. Follow these easy steps. This tip requires Registry editing, so back up your System Registry files first (USER.DAT and SYSTEM.DAT in your Windows folder). Open System Registry Editor and navigate to first this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Softwa re\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main then this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Softwar e\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main At each location, double-click the "Window Title" item on RegEdit's right pane. Edit the "Value data" field to show the text your prefer. If you delete everything in the field, you should get Internet Explorer's original title bar text, which is "Microsoft Internet Explorer." (Note: You may not find a modified Window Title item in both Registry locations.) If you didn't find the a "Win [cont.]

A. it is not your browser that has the IP but your computer. therefore whatever you have on AOL must be some temporary or "fake" IP or an IP that the developers gave to you to hide your original IP defending your system.

You may have to restart your computer to activate it... if you are in Firefox...enter yahoo.com and bring up the homepage thru their website...the original one should be showing...then click on make y my homepage at the top of this page and it should take place after restarting your computer. With all the changes by Yahoo and them asking you to try other homepages it just might not be there...If it is not go above and click on TOOLS...then OPTIONS..once up make sure you are in MAIN (first one on the left)...Now look in HOMEPAGE... if www.yahoo.com is not in this box delete what is in there (drag your arrow over it… [cont.]

A. Which Messenger do you mean ? You mention AOL, so I guess you mean AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) ? Or since you post here on the Yahoo Answers site, do you refer to YM - Yahoo Messenger ? Whichever it is, have you downloaded and installed it ? What is the exact problem - what happens when you TRY to logon, or to open/run it ?

A. If you're online with aol, just use microsoft internet explorer once you're already dialed in. The AOL explorer browser is just a dressed up version of an older version of ie anyway. Just minimize aol, but don't sign off, and then open up internet explorer which is included with windows.

A. AOL is inherently defective. Use IE, or better yet, download Mozilla Firefox--works for almost all sites and kicks IE's butt.
